Living Coast Ministry (LCM) offers a unique opportunity to explore the intersection between environmental education/activism and spirituality. This summer long internship includes a stipend of $3000, simple lodging at the church or a room in a member’s home (subject to availability), and the possibility of completing some or part of a seminary field education program. Our ministry staff will work with an applicant’s seminary to assign appropriate credit and ensure that requirements are met. It is not a requirement that the intern be a ministry candidate, however, several tasks of the position are focused on the spiritual formation of participating youth.
LCM is a residential program that invites youth and chaperones from across the country to an immersive week where participants learn about ocean and shoreline ecology while being supported in the development of a spiritual ecology. The intern’s role will be to support the Director of the program throughout each week. Role will include: supervision of youth (along with their liable chaperones) on a variety of field trips to local environmental partners, planning and leading worship and spiritual experiences, oversight of group projects centered around sharing their experience, set up and breakdown of physical space, and other tasks as needed.
On weeks that we lack a visiting group, the intern will have a break and be invited into the life of Harbor Christian Church, LCM’s sponsoring congregation.
