Early January of 2025, Southern California was devastated by a series of destructive, never before seen fires. Extreme heat, drought, and hurricane-force Santa Ana Winds led to the accelerated spread of fires in the surrounding Los Angeles area, most notably the Palisades and Eaton Fires. As winds made containment nearly impossible, these fires ravaged through communities for over 21 days and resulted in catastrophic loss of life and property as well as extensive damage that displaced entire communities.
Rebuilding efforts are underway and Week of Compassion is working with San Gabriel Valley Habitat for Humanity and First Christian Church of Torrance to receive volunteers to help with rebuilding efforts.
