Our annual Disciples Men weekend, May 1-3, 2026, partners with UCC, ecumenical, and interfaith men to form bonds of brotherhood shoulder to shoulder. Among many activities, we dedicate Saturday morning into the afternoon to help a mission center that serves the Ozarks community to renovate and prepare for the season. All skillsets and abilities will find something meaningful to do – from operating large equipment, to staining, to photographing in telling our story, to encouraging. Annual projects include damming a stream so youth will have a swimming hole, restoring the Wobus Craft Center after winter wear, and clearing up debris.
Gather at Shannondale, in beautiful Shannon County, Missouri halfway between Salem and Eminence, Missouri along side the Current River and the Ozark National Scenic Riverway. This is rugged, wild and wonderful.
Bring jeans and durable clothing for cool to warm weather and possible wet conditions. Face masks and goggles may be needed as well as sturdy boots. For those gathering in the stream, extra clothing, swim gear and tennis shoes are needed as well.
At the end of the mission work, we celebrate being in the company of each other by optional canoeing or kayaking, hiking in the national park, playing cards, and deep conversations. The night is capped off by a spiritual bonfire. Sunday offers a church service at the Shannondale Mission congregation.
