The Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) has over 2,800 congregations throughout the U.S. and Canada. Many congregations are engaged in meaningful and impactful ministries in their local communities. It is vital that we find ways to connect congregations and regions to learn from one another, network to expand our mission and outreach, and share the life changing love of God.
The Disciples Missions HUB seeks to do just this. This HUB is available to both individuals and congregations seeking to connect and network from their doorsteps, to their local communities, and beyond.
One of the most compelling and important parts of the HUB is the portal to connect individuals and groups with opportunities to volunteer and serve others in meaningful and impactful ways. Disciples congregations, regions, general ministries, and affiliated organizations will post opportunities for volunteering across the U.S. and Canada. Some of these opportunities will be for long-term, ongoing volunteerism, while others are one-time and episodic opportunities.
Disciples congregations are doing fantastic ministries and the HUB will help connect these congregations to amplify their work. The HUB will share inspiring stories of the creative work being done throughout the wider church. Congregations and individuals will be able to participate in discussion forums, gatherings, and educational opportunities with others doing similar work. A big part of this community will be the sharing of ideas and best practices, while working collectively and not having to “re-create the wheel” at every turn. For those congregations that need initial ideas to start their local missions and outreach ministries, the “getting started” section of the HUB will provide tips to get them started.
