Thank you for your faithful response to the call to be a Disciple in Mission: Everyone. Everywhere. Every Need. This is the theme for the inspirational week of events organized by Disciples Home Missions (DHM). Week of Compassion is grateful to be collaborating with DHM to highlight the work of local missions and outreach ministries across the life of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). This is an opportunity for Disciples to engage, network, and learn about local mission and outreach.
The Houston area has experienced multiple climate disasters over the last ten years. Eight of them were large enough to receive federal disaster declarations including a derecho windstorm and a hurricane both in 2024. Numerous localized and smaller-scale disasters, such as severe storms, power outages, and industrial accidents have intensified the need for assistance. Week of Compassion continues to support recovery efforts in Houston in partnership with our long-standing partner, The Restoration Team (TRT). We will join as a team to help repair a home as part of Second Serve Saturday, a monthly day of volunteering hosted by TRT.
