In 2025, DHM launched Disciples Mission HUB to engage, network, and learn about local mission and outreach across the life of the church. The driving force behind this initiative is DHM’s commitment to engaging in coordinated missions on behalf of the whole church. Building on the Mission HUB initiative, and in line with our ongoing priorities, DHM is planning a multiday event called Disciples Mission Week to highlight the work of local missions and outreach ministries across the life of the church.
September 8-13, 2026:
- Educate and Create Awareness – DHM wants to provide educational opportunities and ignite energy around the issues that congregations are addressing. Currently, the priorities we are highlighting through the HUB are food insecurity, chronically unhoused, healthcare inequities, and disability equity.
The work of education and creating awareness during Disciples Mission Week will be carried out as four webinar style gatherings held Tuesday through Friday evenings:
Tuesday, September 8 – Food Insecurity
Wednesday, September 9 – Chronically Unhoused
Thursday, September 10 – Healthcare Inequities
Friday, September 11 – Disability Equity - Inspiring Volunteer Action – A second component of Disciples Mission Week will be a “day of volunteering” on Saturday, September 12, 2026, in Disciples communities across the U.S. and Canada. Congregations will be encouraged to organize volunteers for one-day projects in their churches, communities, regions, with a local partner, and/or with other local congregations. These activities can be in support of existing ministries or be a steppingstone to getting one started.
- Celebrate and Worship – Finally, we will encourage Disciples congregations to celebrate the good work they have been doing and continue to do in their churches and their communities. This will be done in their worship services on Sunday, September 13, 2026. DHM will provide resources for worship.
