What is Disciples Mission Week?
Disciples Mission Week is an inspirational week of events organized by Disciples Home Missions (DHM) to highlight the work of local missions and outreach ministries across the life of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). It is built on the foundation of the Disciples Mission HUB, launched in 2025 to engage, network, and learn about local mission and outreach.
There will be compelling and educational webinars offered Tuesday to Friday, September 8-11, to address relevant issues that congregations and communities are facing: food and housing insecurity, and healthcare and disability equity. Saturday, September 12 will be a day of volunteering and service. Worship resources will be provided to celebrate Disciples Mission Week on Sunday, September 13.
What is the theme for 2026?
The theme is “Disciples in Mission: Everyone. Everywhere. Every Need.”
Is there a Scripture focus for the week?
The week is grounded in Isaiah 58:6–10. This scripture emphasizes that God calls us to loose the chains of injustice, feed the hungry, shelter the poor, and act with generosity and compassion, promising that when we lift up the oppressed, God will bring healing and light to the world.
When will Disciples Mission Week take place?
The week runs from Tuesday, September 8 through Sunday, September 13, 2026. There will be daily webinar-style gatherings during the week, Disciples engaged in volunteering and service on Saturday, and worship resources for Sunday morning.
Who can participate in Disciples Mission Week?
Everyone! The event is open to Disciples congregations, individuals, and communities across the United States and Canada.
Is there a cost to participate in Disciples Mission Week?
No, there is no cost to participate! The weekly webinars, Saturday’s day of volunteering, and the Sunday worship resources are all free.

How can my congregation participate in the day of volunteering and service?
Congregations are encouraged to organize one-day volunteer projects on Saturday, September 12. Having a day of volunteering across the denomination will be an exciting day to see how Disciples make a difference from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth! We want to share stories of what your congregation is doing locally, uplift ministries across the life of the church, and inspire one another to continue to shine God’s light of love and justice!
Projects can take place at your church, in your community, through your Region, with a local partner, in collaboration with other nearby congregations, or with a Disciple partner volunteer site. Activities can support existing ministries or serve as a first step toward launching a new one!

Does my congregation need to register for the day of volunteering and service on Saturday, September 12?
Your congregation does not need to register for the event, but we would love to hear how your congregation will participate and what project you will engage in on September 12 (or another date).
